The curse of the overthinker…
Six words that form the solid foundations of driving yourself insane with worry.
Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?
Nothing induces anxiety quicker than a question you don’t have the answer to.
Now I meet many people in the course of my work, and I would say that quite a large proportion of them are over-thinkers or over analysers.
Overthinking is not confined to just asking the six deadly questions above. It’s trying to answer those questions. It’s your mind trying to fix and solve the problem. Your mind wants to know because that’s how it’s been trained. It’s a clever bit of kit!
Now if your mind can not come up with the solution, you lead yourself to believing that either that:
-There is something deficient in you
-That others have made you this way.
Your mind is a beautiful thing, but so is a tidal wave and we both know how that ends. You can be on an endless repeat loop with the same questions and the same thought patterns for a long time before the crash comes.
Therein follows low self-esteem and self-sabotaging behaviour, and you’re still trying to figure it out.
This in a nutshell is what I work with on a daily basis. I’m an expert in helping people to let go. When I say “let go” I mean REALLY do away with those questions and the anxiety they cause.
